Ibon Foundation editor analyzes sudden transition

 

A year-end political and economic briefing entitled "BIRDTALK: Surviving in the New Millennium" will be given by Mr. Antonio Tujan, Jr., Research and Executive Editor of the Ibon Foundation, Inc. At the UP Baguio Bulwagang Juan Luna on Wednesday, January 31 at 1 p.m.

 

The briefing will be an opportune time to recollect and synthesize the year that was and to analyze our prospects for the year to come.

 

The briefing is expected to address the sudden transition in our political system and the prevailing economic crisis in our country as they compel us the more to organize ourselves and contemplate and plan for the recent developments in our history.

 

The event is sponsored by the UPCB Lecture Series Committee, the IBON Foundation, Inc., Teachers and Employees against Corruption and Hypocrisy-Metro Baguio (TEACH-MB) and the Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees - CAR (COURAGE-CAR).

UP Baguio celebrates ruby anniversary

 

In continuing celebration of its forthcoming ruby anniversary, UP College Baguio offers two must-go cultural events to the Baguio Community in the coming weeks.

 

The first event is "Sayaw Salamat: 20 Years of Creative Collaboration," a musical production featuring the UP Dance Company, the resident dance company of the College of Music, UP Diliman. Sayaw Salamat highlights all-original Filipino dances and music, focusing on dance as both a kinesthetic and verbal discourse. The performances at UP Baguio Bulwagang Juan Luna will be on Thursday, February 1, with Matinee at 2 p.m. and Gala at 5 p.m. Tickets are at 30 pesos each. Sayaw Salamat is also part of the celebration of February Arts Month 2001, a project promoted by the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

 

The second event is Sessionroad sa UP Baguio, a musical concert featuring the Sessionroad band composed of Baguio-born artists who made it big in Manila and who have now come back to their roots in Baguio. The concert is for the benefit of the preschool children of Batang Oble, UP Baguio's Day Care Center. The benefit concert will be held at the UP Baguio Bulwagang Juan Luna on Wednesday, February 14 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are at 80 pesos only.
