Search for next UP Diliman Chancellor begins

The University of the Philippines Diliman has begun its search for its next Chancellor.
On January 4, the Search Committee for the Next UP Diliman Chancellor revealed the names of the three nominees who have qualified for the selection. They are:

UP faculty members find new home in Acacia Residence Hall

Comm Res holds first int’l conference

The Department of Communication Research (Comm Res) of the College of Mass Communication (CMC) held its first international conference from September 22 to 23 at the UP Diliman (UPD) campus.
Titled “Voices and Noises: Communication and Integration within and across ASEAN Communities,” the event was an offshoot of the department’s National Communication Research Conference (NCRC) which began in 2012. The NCRC, on the other hand, was an expansion of its Metro Manila-wide Communication Research Student Conference which began in 2007.

Leyte-based radio broadcaster receives UP award

The UP Gawad Plaridel, the sole award of the University for outstanding media practitioners, was given this year to Radio DYVL-Tacloban City station manager Francisca “Babes” Custodio.
Custodio was recognized for her promotion of the Waray oral literary form Siday, language, and culture. She was also cited for public service as exemplified by her remaining on duty during Typhoon Yolanda, which ravaged the station and killed two of the staff and five from a janitor’s family taking shelter in the station.

Construction of new music buildings, renovation of Abelardo Hall Auditorium

On August 9, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the UP College of Music for the construction of its new music buildings and the renovation of the Abelardo Hall Auditorium.
