UP Mindanao (UPMin) held a brief groundbreaking ceremony for seven infrastructure projects and inaugurated the Davao City-UP (DC-UP) Sports Complex Multi-purpose Human Kinetics Building or Training Gym on February 3. The Kasadya Parolan Christmas Lantern Parade and Celebration was successfully held on December 7 in UP Mindanao on the theme, “”Kaugalíngon, Tinúbdan sa Níndot nga Kausában: Átong Pagláum sa Karóng Kapáskuhan” (Self, the Source of Positive Change: Our Hope for this Christmas). The Mintal Elementary School Drum and Lyre and majorettes led the Parade and performed their competition routine and repertoire.
Parol Christmas Lanterns were paraded by University constituents and were individually presented in the Kasadya Christmas Program, alternating with the Kasadya Epic Dance Showdown and the Awarding Ceremonies.

Farmers of the Obu Manuvu indigenous people availed of a training-workshop on natural farming technology systems throughout October to November 3 in Sitio Ladi-an, Marilog District, Davao City.
The 40 farmers learned to make indigenous micro-organisms, fermented plant juice and fruit juice, fish amino acid, and natural insect attractants for use as inputs to farm production.

The University of the Philippines Mindanao opened at the crack of dawn for its 19th Commencement Exercises on June 28, 2016. Dr. Rogelio V. Incumbent UP Mindanao Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion was re-appointed to serve a second term by the UP Board of Regents in their 1314th Meeting held on 29 January. Her second three-year term begins on 1 March 2016. The appointment culminated the search process that began in September 2015.
In her vision paper, Chancellor Concepcion stated that, “Institutional strengthening of UP Mindanao will take priority, as a continuation of the development of a collegial culture. We need to be a learning organization, capable of self-correction and agile in adapting to the rapidly changing political and social landscape.”

In commemoration of the National Indigenous People’s Month, UP welcomes Manilakbayan 2015—a movement of victims of human rights violations from Mindanao who are peasants, workers, Lumads, Moros, women and children—that aims to bring the issues of Mindanao into the country’s political and economic capital.
