The long-awaited UP Arts Productivity System (APS) is now in place. Its aim is to honor and support the University’s most distinguished and productive artists.
University Professor Emeritus Domingo is new National Scientist

Dr. Ernesto O. Domingo, currently university professor emeritus of the UP College of Medicine, is the newest National Scientist of the country. The proclamation was  signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on January 14, 2010.

The third issue of the Likhaan Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature was launchedby the Likhaan: The UP Institute of Creative Writing (ICW) on December 11, 2009, at the Balay Kalinaw in UP Diliman (UPD).

“I’m so Gay for Human Rights,” a forum on politics and identities, was sponsored by the UP Center for Women’s Studies (CWS), in cooperation with the UP Diliman College of Law, the UP Institute of Human Rights (IHR), the Lawyers League for Liberty (Libertas), and the Rainbow Rights Project.
UP hosts international conference on faith and migration

UP, through the UP Diliman (UPD) Center for International Studies (CIS) and Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS), hosted an international conference on Filipino migrants and their religious faith, titled “Diasporic Encounters, Sacred Journeys: Gendered Migrants, Sociality and Religious Imagination,” on January 5 and 6, 2010, at the Bulwagang CM Recto of UPD’s Rizal Hall.
UP booters off to a rousing start
The back-to-back UAAP title bid for football of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons began auspiciously as they blanked both the University of the East and Ateneo de Manila with identical 2-0 scores.
UPIS student, UP swim team member help win SEAG medals
The Philippine Taekwondo Poomsae Team composed of four UP alumni and one UP Integrated School (UPIS) student  won one gold and two bronze medals in the Southeast Asian Games in December 2009.
