The Asian Center Library
The Asian Center Library, established in 1956, exists to provide bibliographic support to the teaching
and research programs of the Center. It is charged with the primary functions of acquiring, organizing
and disseminating information materials needed by the students, faculty and staff.
The focus of the library collection is the ASIAN STUDIES COLLECTION, which consist of printed and
non-printed materials in English as well as indigenous languages of Asia. The collection, which
is divided into the four geographic areas of concentration of the Center's academic and research
programs; Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. All countries of Asia are represented
in varying degrees in the collection, which covers their socio-cultural, economic, and political aspects.
Supplementing the collection on Asia is the General Collection of books and monographs on the
social sciences and some countries outside the Asian region.
